A distinguished autumn scene by Sakai Doichi (1845–1913), a prominent master who adorned the final chapter of the Edo Rimpa school. Having studied under the celebrated Suzuki Kiitsu and inherited the orthodox lineage of Sakai Hoitsu, Doichi beautifully harmonized the sophisticated decorative beauty of Rimpa with a refreshing touch of modern realism.
