かつて人々の日常の営みを静かに照らしていた吊り灯火器。 江戸後期から明治にかけ、職人が手作業で鉄を叩き、曲げて作り上げた生活の道具には、用の美を体現した素朴な力強さが宿っています。

無骨な古鉄でありながら、上方へ向かってふっくらと広がり、再び窄まる曲線のフレームは、空間に上品な「余白」を生み出します。さらに、下部に据えられた星型の受皿は、角を立たせた幾何学的な美しさを放ち、どこかモダンな印象さえ漂わせます。

かつては油皿に灯芯を灯した実用品ですが、現代においては時を経た錆や風合いそのものが、豊かな知性と美意識を空間にもたらすオブジェとなります。内部に落としを仕込み、初夏のヤマボウシや紫陽花など、季節の野の花をそっと一輪灯すように活ければ、錆び枯れた鉄肌とみずみずしい生命力が美しいコントラストを描きます。置き灯籠として、あるいは吊り下げて、その佇まいをお愉しみいただけます。

This antique iron lantern base once gently illuminated the daily lives of people in eras past. Handcrafted by artisans from the late Edo to the Meiji period, who forged and bent the iron by hand, this everyday implement embodies a rustic strength and the inherent beauty of functional craftsmanship.

Despite the rugged nature of the antique iron, the frame swells softly upward before narrowing again, creating an elegant sense of negative space. The star-shaped saucer at the base exhibits a sharp, geometric design that feels remarkably modern.

While originally used to hold an oil dish and a burning wick, today its timeworn rust and profound patina bring a refined intelligence and aesthetic depth to any space.
